Born 29 October 1968 in Moscow, former Soviet Union, Vadim Sokolovsky moved to Los Angeles in 1994 after graduating from the Moscow Film School. He started his career in Hollywood by working for Steven Spielberg's project Survivors of the Shoah Foundation. Since 1998 Vadim has worked as an independent writer/producer collaborating with such famous producers as Roger Corman and Menahem Golan. In the year 2002 Vadim established his own LA-based production company, Harvest Entertainment.

(LOS ANGELES) - American actress Nora Zehetner will star in the title role of the low-budget indie feature "The Song of the Rose" for Russian director Sergei Livnev. The project will shoot on location in Minsk, Russia, early next month for producer Marius Balthunas. Zehetner is the sole American actress in an all-Russian cast. The English-language film, written by Vadim Sokolovsky and Chris Siverton, will see Zehetner play Rose, a Jewish-American girl in her early 20s who is caught in the midst of the 1941 Nazi invasion of Russia during a visit with her distant relatives. She is befriended by a young Russian army captain (Uri Kolokol) whose unit was decimated by the Nazi forces. The two make their way to safety and spark a romantic relationship. Zehetner recently wrapped shooting HBO's "Point of Origin" opposite Ray Liotta. She next appears in Universal Pictures' "American Pie 2" and the indie features "Sticks & Stones" and "Tart." She also recently wrapped shooting the pilot "American Soap" opposite Jonathan Taylor Thomas for 20th Century Fox Television. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Ok, so it's more of a rhetorical question, but still, the mind boggles. Was there any kind of thought put behind this project other than "let's get a few quick bucks out of this controversial event in a third-world country"?

Forget about how insulting this thing is for Peruvians and everyone involved in the real Hostage Situation the movie's "based" on (well, everyone except the terrorists themselves... They come up rather triumphantly when all is said and done). Forget about how irresponsibly the facts and the story are treated (if you're going to be so careless about the facts, why not use an imaginary country and imaginary characters?). Let's forget about all those aspects. Let's pretend this is just an original story. A piece of fiction. You know what? It still blows! Big time.

And it's not only because of the terrible acting, or the poor dialogue. It's also because this movie doesn't just ask you to suspend your disbelief. It asks you to take you disbelief and flush it down the toilet. The plot points lack any kind of logic. And when you think things can't get more ridiculous, the film-makers prove you wrong: Here, between the President dressed up as a soldier and the gratuitous sex scene, let's place a dance number!

Now, I'm not saying it's not fun. It's hilarious, if you're Peruvian. And I guess it's kind of amusing if you're the type that likes to watch train-wrecks and such. It's the kind of film that is so bad, it's almost acceptable. But, on the other hand, it's perplexing. There were actual human beings who thought they were telling a good story here? And telling it effectively?

Man... It gets really scary after a while.

Зихетнер будет единственной американской актрисой в полностью русской актерской группе, но несмотря на это сам фильм будет полностью снят на английском языке. Сценарий картины, написанный Вадимом Соколовским и Крисом Сайвертоном (Chris Siverton), рассказывает об американской еврейке Розе (Зихетнер), которая в возрасте 20 лет приезжает навестить своих родственников. Однако время для визита было выбрано неудачно - июнь 1941 года, и в свете фашистского вторжения перед Розой встает перспектива концентрационного лагеря.
